Franchetti S.p.A. Begins Construction of the Marangara Bridge in Rwanda: Installation of the Load-Bearing Cables Completed

Arzignano (VI), February 9, 2026

Franchetti S.p.A. (BIT Ticker: FCH), the parent company of the multinational group of the same name specializing in advanced diagnostic solutions, digital monitoring, and predictive maintenance of infrastructure, is participating in the construction of the Marangara Bridge in Rwanda - a 95-meter-long steel suspension bridge - as part of the Bridges to Prosperity initiative, which aims to improve accessibility and connectivity for local communities.

In many areas of Central Africa, the lack of connecting infrastructure is one of the main factors contributing to the isolation of rural communities, with direct impacts on access to essential services such as education, healthcare, and markets. In this context, the construction of lightweight and resilient infrastructure is a strategic tool for promoting local development and ensuring continuous connectivity, even during the rainy season. Furthermore, the projects are carried out in collaboration with the local community, helping to generate economic spinoffs and job opportunities in the area

The Marangara Bridge project has entered the construction phase with the start of work on-site. On the first day of operations, volunteers from the C.T.A. (Collegio dei Tecnici dell’Acciaio) arrived at the site, and field activities began. The work concluded with the completion of the first phase outlined in the schedule - namely, the laying and installation of the bridge’s load-bearing cables - a necessary step for the structure’s subsequent progress.

The start of construction also included an initial coordination meeting with the local community, which is involved in the construction activities.

The meeting provided an opportunity to share operational procedures, work organization, and objectives with the partners in attendance.

“With this project, Franchetti is participating in an infrastructure initiative that is fundamental to the development of the region and local communities, based on technical expertise and collaboration among all stakeholders,” comments Paolo Franchetti, CEO of Franchetti S.p.A. “The Marangara Bridge is set to deliver tangible and lasting benefits for mobility and access to services, while also helping to generate positive employment and economic impacts.”
